Fellow gamers, 2016 is officially upon us, bringing with it a huge array of great games for fans of nearly every genre.

The coming year will see the release of a number of games, some in development for over a decade, others only recently announced.

With the current console generation entering its third trimester on the market, more and more titles are being revealed and revamped. This list contains the Top 5 video games I’m most excited to see released in the coming months!

Final Fantasy XV

The fifteenth main installment in the Final Fantasy series, and forms part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis subseries, which also includes Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Type-0.  A major ‘departure from previous games’, XV provides a darker atmosphere that focuses on more realistic human characters than previous entries. The game features an open-world environment and action-based battle system, incorporating the ability to switch weapons and other elements such as vehicle travel and camping.

The sixth entry in the Hitman video game series,  this game consists as a prequel to the series. Details on the game are still sketchy but there IS a trailer to keep us on our toes, and to keep the fan theories flying!


Far Cry Primal

Far Cry Primal is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It is set to be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on February 23, 2016, and Microsoft Windows in March 2016. The game is set in the Stone Age and revolves around the story of Takkar, who starts off as an unarmed hunter and rises to become the leader of a tribe.

Life Is Strange: limited edition

While not strictly a new release Life Is Strange is an episodic graphic adventure video game developed by Dontnod Entertainment.

The game’s plot focuses on Maxine Caulfield, a photography student who discovers that she has the ability to rewind time at any moment, leading her every choice to enact the butterfly effect. The retail edition is set to be released for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One in January 2016; the Limited Edition features an artbook, the soundtrack, score and a director’s commentary.

Assassin’s creed chronicles

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles is a series of video games in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The series consists of three games in development by Climax Studios, to be published by Ubisoft. The games feature new protagonists and a design that is new to the franchise, a 2.5D world inspired by traditional brush paintings. The first entry is Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China released on April 21, 2015. The two other games, India and Russia, are set to be released on January 12 and February 9, 2016, respectively.
