Discover 24 days of festive content – What lies behind door number 22?

The 22nd of December was the Winter Solstice, an astronomical phenomenon marking the shortest day and the longest night of the year.

So to kick off day 22 in the advent calendar, I took some photos to document the momentous day!

We’re not 100 % sure, but we think we saw a Mammatus cloud today! Not that I’d usually care, but it did look pretty cool.

Mammatus clouds considered being some of the most unusual and distinctive cloud formations. They are usually formed in association with large cumulonimbus clouds, particularly when these are forming large thunderstorms. (Side note: around 9pm we had a few flashes of lightning!)

Most of my day was spent cooking, wrapping and on a hike in the 25 mph winds. Here’re a few snaps of our adventure.
