A little bird told me that The Pope was ‘beginning a new journey’

The Pope has joined Instagram.

On Saturday morning, His Holiness Pope Francis tweeted the following:

Now I know what you’re thinking. ‘Tweeted? The Pope had a twitter account?!’

Well, the answer would be yes.  Not only that but within an hour of joining the photo sharing social media platform, the Pope had amassed more than 100,000 followers.

Speaking in an interview with Vatican Radio, the Prefect of the Secretariat for Communications, Monsignor Dario Vigano, said Pope Francis had signed up to Instagram because of his “conviction that images can reveal many things.”

Monsignor Dario Vigano said the images that will be posted “will emphasize the qualities of closeness and inclusion that Pope Francis lives out in his daily life.”

The Pope already has well over 8 million followers on his Twitter account @Pontifex.

Should the pope utilize social media? Would or do you follow him on any platforms?

    I love Francis!

  3. I think this is a great idea. The youth could do with a few doses of the vatican appearing between their ‘trashie’ posts.
