Eight tricks you didn’t know you could do with google!
At 3 billion queries per day, Google hosts over 1 trillion searches per year, yet a majority of these people probably never knew that Google can do SO much more…
Number 1: virtual coin Toss
With this handy feature, you can toss(excuse the pun) difficult decisions out the window. Either say or type “flip a coin” or “heads or tails” into the google search bar (and click “I’m Feeling Lucky” button if on a computer). It will take you to the awesome virtual coin and you can toss with it by clicking on it. (You can do the same thing with a dice.)
NUMBER 2: Image Search
Let’s say you see a photograph on Facebook and you want to know where it originated – like in the show catfish. Or you see a photo of a meal you want to recreate on a blog, but you can’t find the recipe anywhere on their site. You can use Google’s Reverse Image Search by dragging the image into the search tool. It will help you locate the original source of the image. This is extremely useful to catch your facebook friends out when you suspect they are BS-ing! ‘That picture of your girlfriend, yeah it’s from a 1964 calendar. So either she’s over 50… or you’re lying.’
NUMBER 3: CALORIE COUNTING
Google can help you decide what to eat for dinner (If you care about calorie counting that is.) This awesome Google feature help you to do a comparison with Foods like how much fat and calories a meal contains. You can do it simply by searching ‘Food Vs Food’. i.e Pizza vs Pasta.
NUMBER 4:play PacMan!
Google celebrated the 30th anniversary of the classic PAC-MAN game in May of 2010 with a fun in-browser version of the game.
NUMBER 5:Emergency Timer
You can set the timer of your choice by just typing “Set Timer (plus time)” in the search bar, and setting the time of your choice. When the timer runs out a loud sound will be played by Google.
NUMBER 6:Number Speak
Can you speak that number 3465320234? It may be tough but Google can tell in just a sec, and save you the embarrassment of not knowing. Just type your number in Google followed by =English” and Google will tell you exactly what that number might be!
NUMBER 7: Do a Barrell Roll
Not exactly new to the scene, but if you type the command “do a barrel roll” into the search bar, you can watch the interface perform a 360-degree somersault before your eyes.
Number 8: Dancing YouTube
Okay, not strictly google, but this one blew my mind. Go onto YouTube and type “Use the force, Luke” into the YouTube search bar and the result will blow your mind. (Also, search for “do the Harlem shake” on YouTube and enjoy the show.)
